Habit Tracker
Getting Started

The Habit Tracker helps you build and maintain daily habits. Here's how to use it:

  • Create a Habit: Click "Add Habit" to create a new habit with a name, frequency goal, and deadline.
  • Set Frequency: Choose how many times per week you want to complete the habit (e.g., 3x per week).
  • Set Days: Select which days of the week you want to track the habit.
  • Set Deadline: Choose a time of day when the habit should be completed by (default is 8:00 PM).
  • Mark Complete: Click the checkmark on a habit card when you've completed it for the day.
Understanding Streaks

Your streak shows how many consecutive weeks you've met your frequency goal. Streaks reset if you miss your goal for a week.

Timezone Settings

Make sure to set your timezone in Settings so that deadlines are calculated correctly for your location.

Habit Primers
What are Habit Primers?

Habit Primers are mini-playbooks that help you respond to specific situations or triggers in the moment. They provide guidance when you need it most.

Creating Habit Primers
  • Go to Create Habit Primers: Click "Create Habit Primers" in the navigation.
  • Add Triggers: First, create triggers (situations that prompt you) in the Manage section.
  • Add Subjects: Create subjects (categories) to organize your habit primers.
  • Create a Habit Primer: Write your habit primer content, select triggers and subjects, and save.
Linking Primers to Habits

Connect specific primers to your habits to see them at the right time:

  • Open Habit Details: Click on any habit card to open the details modal.
  • Scroll to Linked Primers: Find the "Linked Primers" section in the habit details.
  • Click "Link Primer": This opens a modal showing all your available primers.
  • Choose Timing: Select when you want to see the primer:
    • Before (Preparation): View primer when you open the habit (helps you prepare)
    • After (Reinforcement): View primer after completing the habit (reinforces learning)
  • Select Primer: Click on the primer you want to link.
Tip: You can link multiple primers to the same habit - some for before and some for after!
Viewing Linked Primers

Before Doing a Habit:

  • Click the eye icon on any habit card
  • View all "before" primers to prepare yourself
  • Click "Start Habit" when ready

After Completing a Habit:

  • Check off the habit as complete
  • A modal automatically opens showing all "after" primers
  • Read the reinforcement content to solidify your learning
Managing Linked Primers
  • View All: Open habit details to see all linked primers organized by timing (Before/After)
  • Unlink: Click the × button next to any primer to remove the link
  • Change Timing: Unlink and re-link with different timing option
Browsing Primers

When viewing habit primers in the Create section, you can filter by trigger or subject to find the right guidance for your current situation.

Notifications
Setting Up Notifications

Get reminders when you're at risk of missing your habit goals:

  • Go to SettingsNotifications
  • Choose Email or Text (SMS) notifications
  • Set the time you want to receive reminders
  • For text notifications, enter your phone number in E.164 format (e.g., +1234567890)

Note: Notifications are sent only if you haven't completed your habit by the specified time.

Library

The Library contains pre-made templates and cards created by the HabitGlue team. Browse the library to find helpful resources for building better habits.

Add to Home Screen

Add HabitGlue to your phone's home screen for quick access, just like a native app!

iPhone / iPad (Safari)
  1. Open HabitGlue in Safari (not Chrome or other browsers)
  2. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen
  3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen"
  4. Edit the name if you'd like (or keep "HabitGlue")
  5. Tap "Add" in the top right corner
  6. The HabitGlue icon will now appear on your home screen!
Tip: Once added, you can open HabitGlue directly from your home screen, and it will work like a native app.
Android (Chrome)
  1. Open HabitGlue in Chrome browser
  2. Tap the Menu button (three dots) in the top right corner
  3. Select "Add to Home screen" or "Install app"
  4. Review the app name and icon, then tap "Add" or "Install"
  5. The HabitGlue icon will now appear on your home screen!
Tip: On Android, HabitGlue will open in its own window without browser controls, giving you a more app-like experience.
Benefits of Adding to Home Screen
  • Quick access - no need to open a browser and type the URL
  • App-like experience - opens in its own window
  • Works offline for cached pages
  • Easy to find among your other apps
